SJC Laments Postponements of Murder Case
Wednesday 29 June, 2016 – 9:02
The Social Justice Coalition (SJC) has criticised the numerous postponements of a case related to the murder of a Khayelitsha young woman.
The coalition’s spokesperson, Chumile Sali, says the delays are demoralising for the family and victims of gender-gender violence.
Sali points out that, “As the SJC we are not happy with the manner in which the court and the special defence regulative are handling this case. The bail hearing has been postponed 10 times. Once you delay justice, it gives false hope to victims. It also discourages victims not to report cases because the justice system is taking its time.”
