FAO, 8 November 2005
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is pleased to announce the launch of the IMARK e-learning website on behalf of the Information Management Resource Kit (IMARK) Steering Group. The new website now offers online access to self-paced e-learning modules which have previously been available only on CD ROM.
Learners can now register and take the IMARK module “Management of Electronic Documents” in English or in French and the module “Digitization and Digital Libraries” in English. Other language versions and modules will be available in due course. IMARK modules are being developed by a wide range of experts and are based on the use of appropriate and cost-effective technologies.
The modules are delivered in an interactive self- paced learning environment, using dynamic screens and illustrated step-by-step instructions and exercises. The modules provide learners with immediate access to customized help, search and glossary facilities, as well as cases studies which demonstrate real life applications of the concepts and procedures being taught.
IMARK now has over 30 partners and collaborating institutions since its inception in 2001, and is coordinated through a Steering Group consisting of the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), FAO, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), Inter- American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement (Cirad), the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation ACP-EU (CTA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
