Civil Society’s Role in Natural Resources Management

In a paper prepared for the sub-regional conference on ‘Diamonds for Development', author Bjørn Førde focuses on civil society's role as it relates to natural resources and good governance. The paper argues that in order for civil society participation to be ensured, national and local governance framework and structures need to be further developed and corporations need to meet the standards of the international community with regard to transparency, openness, and accountability
