Become a Greatheart for Starfish
This campaign got its name from Arthur Newton, one of the all-time legends of the Comrades Marathon who became known as 'Greatheart' because he regularly donated all of his winnings to deserving causes.
Greathearts is an opportunity for individuals to do something more, by giving back to the children Starfish supports.
How can someone get involved? We’re looking for sports fanatics who are willing to go the extra mile for Starfish. A Greatheart is a person who will challenge themselves physically to raise funds for children left orphaned or vulnerable in South Africa. By participating in any sporting event such as running, swimming, cycling… the choice is yours! Use your participation to collect sponsorship by approaching friends, family and colleagues. Know that as you compete, you are not only doing it for your personal best, but you are also changing a child’s life. Whether you raise R200 or R 2 000 every cent counts.
Starfish is proudly associated with SANGONeT’s “No Pain No Gain” campaign and David Barnard who is the epitome of a Greatheart. He is raising funds for Starfish by taking on the Sahara Race 2011, running a marathon every day for seven days, all to make a difference. Your donation of R250 will feed a child one hot meal per day for two weeks.
We are humbled and inspired by the efforts David is making to change the lives of children in South Africa.
