Citizen Journalism in Africa Project
Wednesday 15 October, 2008 – 11:17
The Citizen Journalism in Africa (CJA) Project is a partnership project between SANGONeT and Hivos aimed building the capacity of civil society organisations to use online and offline citizen journalism as a means of publication, lobby, networking and knowledge sharing with their constituencies. The project is implemented in six African countries: South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Uganda and Mozambique, through the Citizen Journalism Africa portal: www.citizenjournalismafrica.org.
The overall objective is to increase outreach in local media of balanced, objective and informative reporting on the situation of targeted marginalised groups including women, which contributes to an increased involvement and participation of these groups in democratic processes on the national level.
