’Creating Space for Civil Society: Some Reflections’, is a paper that focuses on a particular on civil society’s role as it relates to natural resources and good governance.
The paper discusses the role of CSOs in overseeing resource revenue management, participation in public policy discussions, advocacy for increased access to information, and conflict management. It also argues that in order for civil society participation to be ensured, national and local governance framework and structures need to be further developed and corporations need to meet the standards of the international community with regard to transparency, openness, and accountability.
