The Broadcasting Independence Handbook: Lessons from the South African Experience handbook focuses on the transformation from state to independent broadcasting in South Africa.

The Broadcasting Independence Handbook: Lessons from the South African Experience is a handbook that focuses on the transformation from state to independent broadcasting in South Africa, and the lessons that can be drawn from this transformation for the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

The handbook is for use by Southern Africa-wide wide civil society organisations (CSOs), as well as independent and community media. In addition, it provides resources to CSOs seeking to achieve independent broadcasting regulation and in independent public broadcaster. It is also aimed at sharing SA’s experiences of setting up and running independent statutory communications bodies focusing on the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) and the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC).
