South Africa Ranks High on Human Rights

South Africa maintains a strong ranking for human rights and sustainable economic opportunities, according to the Mo Ibrahim Foundation.

South Africa maintains a strong ranking for human rights and sustainable economic opportunities, coming in second on the continent, according to the Mo Ibrahim Index.

However, Mo Ibrahim Foundation board member, Jay Naidoo, says the issue of crime in South Africa should be a primary focus of government.

Naidoo points out that, "We should be focusing on drilling down into why crime is rising and to what extent the marginalisation of people, the exclusion of people, the way in which the basic rights of people and the basic services that they have a constitutional right to, are not being delivered."
