UCT visits Pretoria

University of Cape Town Deputy Vice Chancellor for Transformation, Professor Loretta Feris will be visiting Pretoria as part of an ongoing engagement programme facilitated by the university’s Development and Alumni Department. The cocktail event which takes place on the evening of 25 July at the Protea Hotel Hatfield is an opportunity for stakeholders including alumni, corporate representatives and friends to engage with Prof Feris and gain an understanding of the latest developments at UCT. Prof Feris will be focusing on Developments in Transformation and the vision for transformation going forward. “Transformation is an evolving process; there is no silver bullet and the journey of transformation is a life-long commitment. What is important is that we commit ourselves to this journey. As such, at UCT we constantly evaluate and adapt our policies, processes and actions to ensure that UCT is responsive to the current academic, social and economic realities of staff and students" said Prof Feris.

Legacy Manager in the Development and Alumni Department, Mr Fahim Docrat added, “UCT is very much an engaged institution and very aware of the challenges but also the immense opportunities in South Africa. Critical to our vision for the future is an approach of consultation and listening to feedback from our alumni and friends. This visit is about sharing updates but also about receiving feedback and incorporating what we hear into our strategy for the university.”

Docrat continued, “Our alumni and friends are spread all over the world and we aim to continue to grow our footprint maintaining our standing as the number one university in Africa.”

The event which is expected to be very well attended promises to be an important opportunity to shed light on broader developments within the higher education sector.

UCT will be hosting similar events throughout the country during the year.
