Mdzananda Animal Welfare Clinic is the only permanent animal welfare support in Khayelitsha, providing primary veterinary healthcare services in an area that supports more than a million people.

Mdzananda Animal Welfare Clinic seeks to appoint a Fundraising and Communications Officer, based in the Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Raise funds to support the organisation’s ongoing operations;
  • Identify and develop relationships with prospective new funders, partners, and government;
  • Maintain relationships with donors, including grant reporting and soft communication;
  • Manage the organisation’s communications across a variety of platforms (website, social media, print);
  • Help shape organisation’s fundraising and communications strategy.

Requirements:

  • Passion for and commitment to Mdzananda’s mission and work; understanding and experience of the realities of animal welfare in South Africa;
  • Communication and interpersonal skills (written, telephone and face-to-face) in English;
  • Writing and editing skills;
  • Experience in grant writing and/or sub-editing;
  • Relevant experience in fundraising, communications, marketing and/or nonprofit management;
  • Proven ability to use various media platforms for strategic communication, including websites, Facebook and Twitter;
  • Planning and time management;
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks and to work to strict deadlines;
  • High level of organisation, administration skills and attention to detail;
  • Self-directed;
  • Proven ability to take initiative and to work without supervision, both individually and in a team setting;
  • Computer literacy, including sound knowledge of MS Office suite and the Internet;
  • Proven experience coordinating/managing staff and volunteers;
  • Impeccable personal integrity and the ability to manage confidential information;
  • High level of flexibility and initiative;
  • South African citizenship or legally authorised to work in South Africa;
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Remuneration: Negotiable.
