The Desmond Tutu HIV Foundation (DTHF) is a NGO that focuses on the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment, training and prevention of HIV and related infections in Southern Africa.

The Foundation works in partnership with the Western Cape Provincial Government and operates from four PHC sites in the greater Cape Town area, in addition to running a variety of other research and service delivery programmes.

DTHF seeks to appoint a Project Coordinator for its “Family Planning into HIV Services Programme” the goal of which is to increase the overall up-take of effective family planning so as to reduce the occurrence of unintended pregnancies among HIV infected women in the province.

This full-time, fixed-term contract position based at DTHF’s Silvertown office in Cape Town.

The purpose of the Project Coordinator position will be to manage, coordinate and supervise the effective delivery of family planning training and on-site mentoring for doctors, nurses and counsellors at ART and other HIV Treatment Sites in the Western Cape.  S/he, with support from the Project Manager, will be responsible for the design, implementation and administration of the programme, including stakeholder management, networking, advocacy, and data management.

Applicants need to be able demonstrate considerable expertise in the above areas as well as have a passion for Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights  - more specifically for family planning provision.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of five years work experience;
  • Nursing degree and current registration with the SANC;
  • Management, coaching, training and supervisory experience;
  • Ability to problem solve and think on their feet;
  • Effective negotiation and mediation skills;
  • Certified in PULSA Plus and in family planning;
  • Willingness to travel and work irregular hours;
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle.
