Symphonia is a nonprofit organisational change practice that works with leaders to engage their stakeholders so that talent, human energy and creativity is maximised. Our mission is to ignite a sense of possibility everywhere we work.
Symphonia for South Africa works to develop strong leadership, particularly in education through its flagship programme, Partners for Possibility (PfP). The programme pairs business executives and leaders with school principals and supports their partnership through world-class training.
Executives gain insights into the needs of schools and together with principals develop plans to turn schools into centres of education excellence through an empowered and supported leadership, engaged school committees, and energised staffs. Ultimately, PfP aims to return schools to the centre of their communities as sources of community pride a and accomplishment. PfP has already attracted almost 300 executives into Partnerships for Possibility and expects to grow strongly in the next two years.
Symphonia for South Africa seeks to appoint a Communication and Marketing Manager, based in Cape Town.
The Communication and Marketing Manager for Symphonia for South Africa will manage a team of communicators and an external service provider. The internal team manages a web site, various social media properties and events while the external service provider conducts media relations and monitoring.
The Manager will therefore be required to oversee a social media strategy, manage the external service provider, and ensure the company's web and social media impact is maximised. The person will, in addition, provide strategic insight into ways the company can meet its overall objectives of attracting business Partners for Possibility and developing the programme and Symphonia as a preferred partner among corporate and government entities.
If you have a passion for education and believe in active citizenship, and you can offer:
- Strong writing skills (and are willing to undergo a writing test);
- Preferably can speak and write in more than one language (extra marks if you offer more than English and Afrikaans);
- An eye for detail and experience in working with a CI guide;
- Good interpersonal skills;
- Strong leadership experience;
- Ability to work with ambiguity to create simplicity;
- Minimum of five years in a communications/marketing environment with good, contactable references.
