Zambian NGOs Received £3m in 2008-2009

The Zambian Parliament heard that more than £3 million pounds was channelled through NGOs, for poverty reduction programmes by the British and Netherlands governments in 2008 and 2009

The Zambian Parliament heard that more than £3 million pounds was channelled through NGOs, for poverty reduction programmes by the British and Netherlands governments in 2008 and 2009.

Finance and National Planning Deputy Minister, Chileshe Kapwepwe, says the British government contributed 80 million pounds, adding that the monies were used for poverty, HIV/AIDS programmes, and good governance.

Kapwepwe says according to British government, all the poverty reduction projects were done successfully and that all funds issued were prudently accounted for in accordance with the agreements surrounding their allocations.
