Thousands Participate in Gay March

Thousands of LGBTI people commemorate the Joburg Pride march under the theme ‘Protect our rights’

Thousands of pink umbrellas lined the streets at the Joburg Pride march, which was aimed at highlighting the deteriorating human rights landscape for lesbians, gays, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people.

Despite the fact that thousands of LGBTI people and heterosexuals came together to celebrate Joburg Pride Day 2012 at the Zoo Lake, the country should invest in educating people around LGBTI issues.

The annual event was created to bring members of the LGBTI community  together in order to create public awareness of LGBTI issues, as well as help members gain confidence in their identities.
