IRC, 26 February 2007.
According the leaked draft of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Report, due to be published in April 2007, water scarcity could affect between 1.1 and 3.2 billion people by 2100.
The report, which focuses on the consequences of global warming and options for adapting to them, predicts critical water shortages in China and Australia, as well as parts of Europe and the United States. Africa and poor countries such as Bangladesh would be most affected because they were least able to cope with drought.
