A recent study conducted by The Bench Marks Foundation on the corporate social responsibility programmes of the platinum mining companies in the North West, reveals that communities in this region are being cheated in transformation initiatives by the mines concerned.
The study criticises inadequacies in respect to health, labour, transformation, environmental effects as well as safety. The study recommends ways in which the mines, the community and the government can work together in order to address some of the issues identified.
