Japan and the European Union (EU) have urged major polluters such as the United States, China and India to work harder to curb greenhouse gas emissions in order to achieve the Kyoto Protocol targets.
The call came shortly after the meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and EU President Jose Manuel Barroso. The two have urged major emitting countries and other emerging economies to come up with an effective framework for the reduction of global warming gases. Meanwhile, the EU has announced deeper EU emissions, arguing that other countries should also make maximum efforts with regard to climate change.
