Lotto to Go Ahead Despite Judgment

The national lottery operator says the Pretoria High Court's overturning of the awarding of its licence will not affect its operations

National lottery operator, Ithuba, says the Pretoria High Court's overturning of the awarding of its licence will not affect its operations.

This follows a ruling by Judge Neil Tuchten that the decision of the Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, to award the tender to Ithuba is invalid and the licence issue done by the minister is set aside, provided that the operation of the order is suspended for a month.

Meanwhile, Ithuba spokesperson, Zukiswa Nomnganga, has assured all parties that there will be no interruption of the national lottery and that the company will continue to use all its resources and manpower in ensuring that it delivers a reliable, secure and invigorated lottery network to all South Africans.
