Inyathelo: The South African Institute for Advancement
Inyathelo is a nonprofit organisation that works to sustain and strengthen civil society organisations and grow local philanthropy in support of a vibrant democracy in South Africa.
Inyathelo is hosting a Breakfast on the 2nd Floor under the theme 'How Seriously Should We Be Taking Threats to Deregister Outspoken NPOs?' on 25 March 2015 in Cape Town.
Let us know if you would like to join Inyathelo for what promise's to be a lively debate on recent demands by the ANC Youth League to deregister the Treatment Action Campaign "for being used as a political party instead of a non-profit organisation.”
At our first “Breakfast on the 2nd Floor” debate this year, we will explore the constitutional, legislative and contextual issues that these threats raise for civil society organisations in South Africa.
Panelists include TAC General Secretary Anele Yawa, Murray Hunter ('Right to Know' campaign) and Sheldon Magardie (Legal Resources Centre). Inyathelo's Executive Director Shelagh Gastrow will chair the debate.
Time: 8h30 for 9h00am (ends 10h30)
RSVP to Anthula Higgins on firstname.lastname@example.org or 021-465 6981.
Inyathelo's “Breakfast on the 2nd Floor” mornings were introduced in 2010 to provide a space for energetic and provocative engagement on key issues facing civil society and South Africa.
