Call for Govt to Monitor Youth Projects

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has called on the government to increase monitoring to ensure that projects aimed at empowering youth deliver the desired results.

NYDA chairperson, Andile Lungisa, points out that young people make up the majority of the population, but are the most affected by unemployment and underdevelopment, despite the government's commitments to include youth in skills development and job creation.

Corruption: Govt Urged to Streamline Policy

A youth lobby group, Youth Agenda, has urged the Kenyan government to consolidate the legal and policy frameworks to fight corruption better.
 
The organisation is also asking the government to introduce anti-corruption studies in the country's education curriculum.
 
In the same vein, Anglican Archbishop, Eliud Wabukala, says that the country is making progress in fighting corruption but there is still room for improvement.

NYDA is Underfunded, Says Ngubeni

The National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) has complained it is underfunded, despite forking out R100 million to host its controversial World Youth Festival.

NYDA CEO, Steven Ngubeni, states that it is not the agency’s fault that the government and funders such as the National Lottery had been willing to fund the festival.

Electoral Commission Urges Youth to Vote

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has urged the country's youth to register to vote in the coming municipal elections.

IEC chairperson, Brigalia Bam, points out that, "We urge young people to turn out in their numbers. They are the leaders of tomorrow and we want to invest in them in every possible way."

IEC chairperson Brigalia Bam said in appeal to youngsters aged 18 and 19 to register this weekend to exercise their democratic right to vote.
