Community Law and Rural Development Centre: Programmes Manager

The Community Law and Rural Development Centre NPC (CLRDC), is a non-partisan, registered nonprofit organisation that which promotes access to social justice, human rights and development of constitutional democracy in rural areas of KwaZulu-Natal.

The CLRDC seeks to appoint a Programmes Manager, based in Durban.

Starting date: To commence immediately.

Social Justice Coalition: Senior Researcher - Criminal Justice

The Social Justice Coalition (SJC) is community movement and advocacy group focused on creating safer communities in historically poor and under-developed areas. Through campaigns for improved access to sanitation facilities and other basic services, and a more effective policing and criminal justice system; the SJC works to encourage community participation in government policy formulation, budgeting, delivery and monitoring.

Ndifuna Ukwazi (NU) is a Cape Town-based NGO that promotes understanding, engagement and collaboration on social justice issues in order to foster active citizenship and leadership in South Africa. A central activity of NU is providing legal and research support to partner social justice organisations. This is done with the goal of improving the living conditions of poor and vulnerable people, as well as to achieve social justice and the safeguarding of human rights in South Africa and elsewhere.

NU seeks to appoint a Junior Researcher, based in Cape Town.

Community Project Launches a News Website

A South African community project has launched a news website that focuses on issues of social justice.

GroundUp was formed in April 2012 and launched their website on 22 November 2012, with a focus on community news reporting and opinion from local activists.

The organisation points out that, "We are a community journalist project. We report stories from South Africa's townships. Most of our stories are about health -especially HIV, TB and sanitation, education, women's rights and immigrant's rights.
