Hand in Hand, Southern Africa (HIHSA) is a non-governmental organisation with a vision of reducing poverty through job creation. HIHSA seeks to appoint a Project Officer; based in Ulundi, KwaZulu-Natal.

The Project Officer will report to the Provincial Manager.

Waste Vital to Job Creation, Says Molewa

The Department of Water and Environmental Affairs says the waste sector is vital to the generation of jobs within the green economy.

Water and Environmental Affairs Minister, Edna Molewa, points out that, "It is in this light that the department is increasingly expanding its programmes in job creation and enterprise development programmes in this sector."

In a press statement, Molewa states that about 1 000 jobs would be created by placing young people in municipalities as landfill site assistants, waste collection administrators and environmental awareness educators.

HIHSA seeks to appoint two Enterprise Development Officers, based in Tzaneen, Limpopo and Bushbuckridge in Mpumalanga.
 
The Enterprise Development Officers will report to the Provincial Manager.

Responsibilities:

Foundation Pledges Fund for Digital Field Jobs

The Rockefeller Foundation will pledge close to a US$100 million (about R900 million) to create digital field jobs in Africa.

In making the announcement at the World Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, the philanthropic organisation's president, Judith Rodin, points out that, "There is no better place to announce the official launch of the Rockefeller Foundation's Digital Jobs Africa initiative, a US$97 million investment."

Open Africa: Project Manager

Open Africa is a nonprofit organisation that uses tourism as an economic platform to create and sustain jobs for rural communities throughout Southern Africa.

Open Africa seeks to appoint a Project Manager, based in Claremont, Cape Town.

The prson will be responsible for the management and implementation of a range of Open Africa projects nationally and will report to the Operations Manager.

Latest Unemployment Figures Shock COSATU

The Statistics South Africa Quarterly Labour Force Survey has revealed that the number of unemployed persons increased by 100 000 people to 4.6 million between the fourth quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013. This took the country's official unemployment rate to 25.2 percent from 24.9 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012.
