Table Mountain Burns

A blaze which broke out on the lower slopes of Table Mountain in the early hours of Wednesday morning has been contained, the City of Cape Town Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed.

Spokesperson Theo Lane said the fire broke out at 03:00 on Wednesday morning at Molteno Road, Oranjezicht, and 42 firefighters, assisted by staff from Table Mountain National Parks, responded.

The fire has been contained and crews were carrying out mopping up operations.

Mandela NGO to Preserve SA Heritage

Speaking at the official opening of the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory in Johannesburg, President Jacob Zuma says the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory plays a vital role in preserving part of South Africa’s heritage.
Zuma believes the centre has made a major contribution towards integrating the liberation heritage into our nation’s cultural heritage.
“The resources housed at this centre form an integral part of defining where we come from as a nation.  They also help in articulating the kind of society we seek to build,” he stated.

Madonsela Considers the Constitution SA’s Greatest Heritage

Public Protector, Thuli Madonsela states that South Africa's greatest heritage is its Constitution.

In a press statement, Madonsela’s office affirms that, "South Africans' national heritage transcend[s] artefacts, historical knowledge, traditional clothes, music, language, the environment, and other beautiful legacies from our past."

She considers the Constitution as a ‘roadmap’ for the South African people.

Arts and Culture Trust: Project Manager

The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) is the oldest funding agency in democratic South Africa. It was established to secure financial and other resources for arts, culture and heritage; and to project the needs and role of the sector into the public domain.

The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) seeks to appoint a Project Manager, based in Johannesburg.

Mupo Foundation: Venda Programme Finance Officer
