The Environmental Monitoring Group (EMG) is a nonprofit environmental organisation based in Cape Town.

EMG seeks to appoint a Bookkeeper/Financial Administrator, based in Observatory, Cape Town.

The person will ensure that all EMG’s financial transactions are recorded accurately and timeously, manage all receipts and payments from EMGs bank account, and will provide accurate and timeous reports to management so that the organisation can make sound financial decisions.

This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible or preferably by 15 October 2012.

Inspectors Lack Specialist Skills - Shabangu

Mineral Resources Minister, Suzan Shabangu, says the environmental management inspectors employed to enforce mining regulations are not required to have a legal background or compliance skills.

Responding to a Parliamentary question posed by the Democratic Alliance, Shabangu said that only 84 inspectors are employed by her department to ensure compliance with environmental laws.
