NGO Donates 65 Desks to a School

Bukoba Region based non-governmental organisation, Jambo Bukoba, has donated 65 desks worth 4.2m/- to Nyamiaga Primary School, in Ngara District.

The Jambo Bukoba Manager, Stephen Gonzaga, says the donation was in effort to mitigate the shortage of desks facing the region.

The Kagera Regional Commissioner, John Mongela, commended Jambo Bukoba for the timely intervention by constructing and renovating several classrooms including Kasambya Primary

R30m Donation for Anti-Poaching Fight

The Peace Parks Foundation says it will invest R30 million in anti-poaching efforts in Mozambique and game parks in Limpopo.

In a press statement, the Foundation declares that the funds would be spent on upgrading field communication technology used by rangers, cross-border radio communication systems, training rangers, improving their working conditions, counter-trafficking programmes, sniffer dogs, and research.

Tutu’s Old Granary Project Gets R12m

Cape Town mayor, Patricia De Lille, has announced that the more than 200-year-old Old Granary building is set to get a R30 million facelift at a luncheon held by the Desmond Tutu Peace Trust, which will be donating R12m towards the refurbishment.

The building, which will be the home of the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation Centre is rich in history and one of the most significant architectural landmarks in Cape Town.

Motsepe Donates US$1m to Fight Ebola

The Motsepe Foundation has announced a donation of R11 million, aimed at assisting Guinea with clinical management, social mobilisation, medical coordination and other key mechanisms of controlling the ebola disease.

In a press statement, mining magnate, Patrice Motsepe, executive chairman of African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), says the donation is on behalf of the Motsepe Foundation and ARM to the Ebola Fund in the Republic of Guinea to assist in the fight against Ebola in West Africa.

Request for training venue for youth employability programme

SchoolNet is running a youth employability programme for unemployed graduates in Johannesburg.  The aim of the programme is to skill graduates with ICT and life, employability and social skills with a view to them becoming employed as ICT technical support staff or starting their own ICT support company. 

The programme is due to start in October and will run until the end of June 2010.
