Centre for Conflict Resolution: Librarian

The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is an independent, non-governmental pan-African organisation, based in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the past 46 years, it has worked continentally to promote constructive, creative, and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflicts and the reduction of violence. It has produced ground-breaking research on African security and governance issues, has conducted extensive capacity-building training, and facilitated and mediated peace processes across Africa.

The CCR seeks to appoint a Librarian, based in Cape Town.

Angola to Participate in Peacekeeping Mission in CAR

Angolan vice-president, Manuel Vicente, announces that Angola is preparing itself to participate in a peacekeeping operation in the Central African Republic (CAR), under the guidance of the United Nations.

During a ceremony organised by the Angolan mission to UN in New York, where Vicente asserts that that the country awaits to contribute to the resolution of the political and military crisis of CAR.

Mozambique Rivals Sign Peace Deal

Mozambican President, Armando Guebuza and rebel Renamo leader, Afonso Dhlakama signed a peace deal in Maputo ending a two-year conflict.

Guebuza and Dhlakama signed the deal in front of around 100 diplomats and dignitaries, where the two leaders embraced, prompting jubilant cries and clapping from those gathered.

SA’s Pivotal Role in Conflict Resolution

President of Namibia, Hifikepunye Pohamba, says South Africa is playing a pivotal role in the attainment and maintenance of peace across the world.

Speaking at South Africa’s annual Freedom Day celebrations at the Union Buildings, Pohamba asserts that, “We recognise the leading role that this great country continues to play in the Southern Africa Development Community region, continental and the international community.”

South Africa Calls for Peace in Ukraine

Department of International Relations & Cooperation (DIRCO) says that South Africa has called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.

DIRCO spokesperson, Nelson Kgwete, states that, "The South African government would like to express its deep concern about the unfolding political situation in Ukraine."

South Africa's foreign policy favoured and promoted peaceful resolution of conflicts and South Africa therefore urged all parties in the stand-off to settle the crisis through dialogue.

Heifer International South Africa: Accountant

Heifer International South Africa’s (Heifer) mission is to work with communities to end hunger and poverty in South Africa and care for the Earth. As a means to reach our mission, the organisation is scaling up its programme work and impact in order to reach more families at a faster pace through using appropriate enhanced systems. ACTION Support Centre: Programmes and Operations Interns

The ACTION Support Centre (ASC) is the Africa regional hub of a global network committed to positive action to transform conflict. The ASC aims to deepen a culture of people-to-people solidarity, strengthen the capacity of individuals and organisations using a variety of methods, be a resource for African wisdom and expertise that is able to respond effectively to the deep-rooted social conflicts across the continent and contribute effectively towards Africa’s renewal.

The ASC seeks to recruit two Programmes and Operations Interns, based in Johannesburg.
