NGOs Key in Conservation - Kasukuwere

The Zimbabwean government has commended community-based and non-governmental organisations for becoming key partners in protecting and conserving the environment.

Environment, Water and Climate Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, says this enhanced the Zim-Asset objectives in addressing environmental challenges through community participation.

'Budget will encourage greater giving’
 
Taking into account the very public outcry relating to the funding crisis experienced by many non-profit organisations, Inyathelo: The South African Institute for Advancement welcomes the proposal by Treasury to allow donations in excess of 10% of taxable income in any given year to listed Public Benefit Organisations (PBOs) to be rolled over as allowable deductions in subsequent years.
 

Govt Intensifies Efforts to Empower Cooperatives

The Gauteng Department of Economic Development is intensifying its efforts to empower cooperatives by enabling them to offer goods and services to various government departments.

Speaking during the International Conference of Small Business Development at the University of Johannesburg, MEC Khulu Radebe stated that the government will allow cooperatives in communities to supply goods and services and in turn create jobs and economic development.
