The African Women's Development Fund (AWDF) is calling for proposals for its Small Grants Programme (SGP) to support small, community / rural based grassroots women's groups, which would otherwise not be able to access AWDF'S main funding programme. The SGP also supports emerging or emergency issues, i.e. community disasters, activities that require a rapid response, etc.
The French Institute of South Africa, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) are hosting a one-day conference entitled "The European Social Model: Which Benefits for South Africa and Africa".
Initiated through a French-German partnership the conference is aimed at fostering open debates on future perspectives of the European socio-economic development and its benefits for South Africa and Africa.

Over the past two months, the African Monitor, working with Black Sash, CIVICUS, Hope Africa, South African Human Rights Commission, COSATU, Southern African Trust, South African Council of Churches, SANGOCO, Studies in Poverty and Inequality Institute and IDASA, has held Poverty Hearings in across South Africa. These gatherings have provided people from all walks of life the opportunity to talk about their experiences of poverty.
